My girlfriend and I went to Barcelona recently. It was my first flight ever since I was born and raised in a small town in north-East Germany. We lived through a lot of memorable adventures which culminated in a small restaurant where we tried eating snails for the first time of our life. We met two fellow travellers from England, which helped us realize that our English has a room for improvement.

Arrival

Flying with Ryanair wasn't (by no surprise) the most comfortable way of travelling, forcing us to get up at 2:50 AM. I think I never got up so early for any occasion. We had to run to the train station because there were no Trams at 3:00 AM. I had this struggle before, when I was trying to get home after leaving the club. We finished our 30-minute and arrived at the main train station in Rostock and started our journey there.

It consisted of two train rides which took 6 hours in sum, and a 2 and a half-hour flight. In between, we had 3 hours to pass through security and check out the tempting offers in the duty-free shop. I honestly don't get why they advertise the missing taxes so much. Everything still costs at least 50% more there.
Nevertheless, I bought my first English book there, because I thought there won't be any better to start reading English literature than NOW.

My first English book

I found "Brave New World" at the store and thought it would probably be my best starting point of English literature because it is well established, and I have already read it in German. Therefore, I have a brief idea of what is going on storywise, and it will be okay if I miss a thing or two.

So far I read the two forewords, skipped the biography, and now I am reading the third forward written by Aldous Huxley himself. It occurred that even tho I feel pretty comfortable speaking and listening with and to people, writing and reading is a whole different thing. That's why I have to translate every 5th word manually and need so much time for this article. I guess this whole blog project, and the book are a language learning experience after all.

Conclusion

Wow, I really missed the goal of this article. Generally, I wanted to write about our whole trip, but too much happened to put it in 500 words. I don't know if there is anyway for readers to interact with this article but if there is, do so, to let me know if I should continue with our Barcelona trip. Since this is the first article probably no one will say anything, so I am just going to keep yapping about the stuff that is on my mind.
